(BRC) Basic Rider Course

This course is for new riders
or those returning to the sport.

COURSE DETAILS

This is a two consecutive day course:

  • You will be taught the basics of motorcycle operation and safety-oriented mental strategies.

    • 5 hours - eCourse
      complete before class, at home
      ​

    • 11 hours - riding

  • Motorcycles provided.

    • 2-Wheel Class​

  • MANDATORY RIDING GEAR:

    • DOT Helmet
      (we supply if needed)

    • Sturdy, over the ankle BOOTS 
      (not canvas)

    • Long sleeve shirt or jacket

    • Long denim JEANS (no holes)

    • Full-fingered gloves

  • REQUIREMENTS​

    • Complete MSF eCourse before class.
      (Link provided at registration)

PREREQUISITES

  • Basic knowledge of road & traffic regulations.

  • Be able to ride or balance a bicycle.

  • Helpful to have a valid driver's license.

  • Age 15 

    • Those under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian present Saturday morning to sign course waivers.​

SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION

The BRC is conducted at a pace that results in successful completion for most novice riders. Our rider coaches will help you learn to the best of your ability.

 

To successfully complete the course, you must:

  • Attend and Participate in ALL sessions.

  • Achieve a passing score on a

    • knowledge test

    • riding-skill evaluation.

UPON COURSE COMPLETION

Successful BRC graduates will:

  • Have both the written & riding motorcycle evaluations waived at the TN DMV for your "M" license.

    • If 14 years old, click HERE for details, your 

      • "P-M" license can be added at age 15

      • "M" license can be added at 16​.

    • If you reside in another state, only the riding evaluation will be waived at your states DMV for your "M" license.

  • Receive a Rider Course Completion Card. Present this card to
